Pursuing My Passion. Educating Others.

I’m a Hampton Roads native who kicked off my career in customer service with a major fundraising corporation, collaborating with non-profits, community, and school groups. However, I eventually felt called to a different path and decided to head back to school. After earning my Bachelor of Science in speech-language pathology and my Masters of Science in Education from Old Dominion University, I delved into the world of medical SLP.
My journey has taken me through various settings, from acute care to inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, and currently with a private consulting firm. I’m proud to say I’m a certified endoscopist for FEES, and my passion lies in helping individuals with aphasia and in cognitive retraining post-TBI.
In my commitment to advancing my field, I’ve obtained certification as a certified brain injury specialist from the Brain Injury Association of America. I’m deeply involved in educating families, friends, and patients about dysphagia, communication, and cognitive disorders.
Sharing knowledge is my passion. I teach clinical writing at the university level and take pride in mentoring graduate SLP clinicians. It’s been an honor to be recognized for my contributions, such as receiving the 2023 Darden Fellow award from the Communication Disorders and Special Education division at Old Dominion University, and more recently, being named the 2024 SHAV Fellow by the Speech Language Hearing Association of Virginia.
